S&P 500 Tops 6,800 as U.S.-China Trade Optimism Boosts Tech

The S&P 500 rose 1.2% to 6,875.16, closing above 6,800 for the first time, while the Nasdaq gained 1.9% to 23,637.46 and the Dow advanced 0.71% to 47,544.59, all at record highs. Gains were led by chipmakers including Nvidia and Broadcom. Optimism over a potential U.S.-China trade deal, upcoming Big Tech earnings, and expected Fed rate cuts supported the rally. Tesla jumped 4%, Qualcomm gained 11% on new AI chips.
