2027 IHT: Countdown Begins with 10,500 Extra Estates Facing Liability

The UK's HMRC estimates that around 10,500 extra estates will become liable for inheritance tax (IHT) and 38,500 estates will see their IHT liability rise in 2027/28 due to the extension of IHT to most inheritable pensions. To prepare for the reforms, 12 steps have been outlined by Elaine Cruikshank, Tax and Trusts Manager at Aegon, including thinking about sensible actions now, such as reviewing pension plans and estate planning.
