Teradyne (TER) was one of the standout performers, with its shares jumping 18.9% to close at $107.65 [2]. The company reported its second-quarter earnings, beating most of Wall Street's targets. While the earnings per share (EPS) and revenue figures slightly topped expectations, the top line fell by 11% year over year (YOY). Looking ahead, Teradyne expects sales for Q3 of between $710 million and $770 million, above Wall Street targets. However, it missed on its EPS guidance, setting a range of between $0.69 and $0.87, well below the expected $0.89 [1].
The company's CEO, Greg Smith, noted that AI-related testing is expected to drive growth in the second half of the year. Cantor Fitzgerald analysts maintained their "overweight" rating for the stock, citing AI growth prospects [1]. Despite the lower-than-expected earnings guidance, the analysts were not phased and maintained their rating.
Littelfuse (LFUS) also saw its share price increase, with the company announcing a US$0.75 per share cash dividend and providing third-quarter earnings guidance with expected net sales between US$610 million and US$630 million [3]. This guidance suggests management's confidence in the company's ongoing performance and anticipates stronger sales ahead.
