B
, a investment management firm, is set to launch a U.S.-listed treasury company backed by YZi Labs, aiming to raise $1 billion. The initiative, supported by former executives of Bitmain and the co-founders of , is designed to function as a treasury vehicle holding BNB and actively fostering the growth of the BNB ecosystem. B Strategy has drawn strong regional support, with several prominent Asia-based family offices joining as anchor investors [1].YZi Labs, which manages over $10 billion in assets, will provide funding and ecosystem support for B Strategy’s initiative. The firm's goal is to leverage a publicly listed company to manage BNB as a strategic asset and implement a "maximize BNB-per-share" strategy. This effort aims to create a well-capitalized, institutionally managed, pure-play listed vehicle offering institutional investors access to the BNB ecosystem [1].
Leon Lu, the founder of B Strategy and co-founder of Metalpha, highlighted the strategic advantage of the initiative, noting that BNB has become the cornerstone utility for the next generation of capital markets and financial systems. BNB powers Web3 with robust trading volume and stablecoin integration, contributing to growing real-world asset adoption. The company will emphasize transparency and verification of holdings, while maintaining strong engagement with the BNB ecosystem and community [1].
Max Hua, co-founder of B Strategy and former CFO and rotating CEO of Bitmain, emphasized the firm's commitment to operator discipline, including independently verified holdings, best-in-class custody, and rigorous risk limits. This disciplined approach aims to ensure confidence and efficiency in cross-border processes for investors from New York to Hong Kong. The initiative is expected to complete its fundraising and Nasdaq listing within weeks [1].
The BNB treasury strategy is not a new concept in the market, with several companies adopting similar models. For example, MicroStrategy pioneered the trend of corporate crypto treasuries in 2020, leading to significant stock price gains. However, not all ventures have been equally successful. Windtree Therapeutics, a biotech firm that adopted a BNB treasury strategy, recently faced a 77% drop in its stock price and is at risk of delisting from the Nasdaq due to noncompliance with minimum bid price requirements. This highlights the volatility and risks associated with such strategies [2][4].
Despite the challenges, BNB has seen significant price appreciation, reaching a new all-time high of $873.8, with a market capitalization of $121.9 billion [5]. Institutional investment in BNB has surged, with companies such as CEA Industries’ subsidiary BNC purchasing $160 million worth of BNB tokens earlier this month. The BNB ecosystem has also shown strong on-chain activity, with a daily transaction volume of 12.5 million transactions and a growing number of decentralized applications [1].
