Maharashtra Orders Probe into Land Transfer to Premier Automobiles

The Maharashtra government has ordered a probe into the allotment of land to Premier Automobiles over six decades ago and subsequent transfers to real estate developers. The investigation, led by a nine-member Special Investigation Team, will examine the alleged misuse of grazing land in Kalyan taluka, Thane district, near Mumbai. The inquiry will cover five broad issues, including the original status of the land and manner of transfer, conversion of parcels from Occupant Class II to free sale, and the transfer of land parcels to third-party buyers.
