BNP: CPBB contribution to group’s ROTE raised to ~+0.5% by 2028
BNP Paribas has raised its expectations for the contribution of its Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) and Corporate & Personal Banking Businesses (CPBB) to the Group’s Return on Tangible Equity (ROTE), with CPBB now expected to contribute approximately +0.5% by 2026 and +1% by 2028. This increase reflects the division’s strong performance and strategic initiatives, including a focus on commercial banking in a favorable interest rate environment. The Group’s Commercial Banking business is benefiting from its diversified client base and optimized capital structure, which are supporting its growth trajectory.
The updated ROTE contribution aligns with BNP Paribas’ broader ambition to achieve a Group ROTE of 13% by 2028, supported by a CET1 ratio target of 13% by 2027. The Group is also implementing cost efficiency measures, with a cost/income ratio target of 58% by 2028, reinforcing its commitment to disciplined growth and profitability. These developments underscore the Group’s confidence in its strategic direction and its ability to deliver long-term value to stakeholders.
