Service Corporation International increases share repurchase authorization
Service Corporation International (NYSE: SCI) has increased its share repurchase authorization by $528 million, bringing the total available repurchase authority to $600 million as of May 6, 2025. This increase was approved by the company’s Board of Directors alongside the quarterly cash dividend of $0.32 per share. The repurchase program, which includes $72 million remaining from the previous authorization, reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to returning value to shareholders through both dividends and buybacks.
SCI, the largest provider of deathcare services in North America, operates 1,489 funeral service locations and 496 cemeteries across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The company has consistently maintained a policy of regular quarterly dividends and has increased its dividend amount in recent quarters. While the Board has indicated its intent to continue paying dividends for the foreseeable future, it emphasized that future dividend decisions depend on the company’s financial performance and other factors.
The company also noted that repurchase activity is subject to market conditions and business needs, and no assurances were given regarding the timing or amount of future repurchases. Investors are encouraged to review SCI’s SEC filings for additional details on risks and uncertainties that could affect future financial decisions.
