The Northern Beaches Council has unveiled plans to transform Brookvale with 3000 new homes and 25-storey towers, almost doubling the suburb's previous housing targets. The draft proposal includes the Warringah Mall shopping centre site, where retail giant Scentre Group wants to build a town centre and 1500 units in buildings up to 39 storeys. However, the council suggests only 850 new homes should be built around the Pittwater Road mall in towers no taller than 25 storeys. The revised plan aims to deliver sorely needed housing and includes a new town centre, employment space, public parks, open spaces, and community facilities over the next 15 years.
