Wall Street analysts have recently adjusted their outlook for Fiserv Inc. (FISV), with Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW) lowering its price target for the stock to $65 from $70, while maintaining an "Outperform" rating. This move follows a broader trend of analysts recalibrating expectations for the financial technology company amid mixed performance and evolving market conditions.

Fiserv has experienced a significant decline in its stock price over the past year, with shares down approximately 69% year-to-date, far underperforming the S&P 500 and the Global X FinTech ETF. The stock’s recent volatility was exacerbated by a 44% drop on October 29 following a disappointing Q3 earnings report, which revealed a 11.3% year-over-year decline in adjusted earnings per share and a 320 basis-point drop in adjusted operating margin.

Despite these challenges, Fiserv continues to demonstrate strong fundamentals, including a 61% gross profit margin and $9.2 billion in EBITDA over the past twelve months. Analysts remain divided on the company’s near-term prospects, with a consensus "Hold" rating from 36 analysts, including six "Strong Buy" and three "Strong Sell" recommendations. The mean price target across all analysts stands at $82.30, implying a potential 31.3% upside from current levels.

KBW’s revised price target reflects concerns over the performance of Fiserv’s Clover payment platform, which has seen a slowdown in volume growth. However, the firm argues that the market has overreacted to these developments and that Fiserv’s long-term growth potential remains intact. Other analysts, including those from BTIG and Mizuho, have also adjusted their price targets downward but continue to express confidence in the company’s strategic initiatives and international expansion.

With Fiserv’s upcoming second-quarter results in focus, investors will be watching closely for signs of stabilization and renewed growth momentum.
