Amplitude Group announces $10M share buyback
Amplitude Group has announced a $10 million share repurchase program, signaling a strategic move to enhance shareholder value and reflect confidence in the company’s long-term prospects. The initiative, approved by the board, authorizes the repurchase of up to $10 million in shares through 2028, with the flexibility to execute purchases via open market transactions, block trades, or other methods as deemed appropriate by management.
The share buyback aligns with Amplitude’s broader financial strategy, which includes a focus on capital efficiency and strengthening its balance sheet. The company reported $366 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) for the fiscal year 2025, representing a 17% year-over-year increase. Despite this growth, Amplitude’s financials reflect a history of losses, with a GAAP net loss per share of $(0.67) for the year. However, the company has made progress in improving its operating performance, with non-GAAP operating income reaching $1.2 million in fiscal 2025, up from a loss of $4.0 million in the prior year.
Amplitude’s balance sheet shows $81.97 million in cash and cash equivalents as of December 31, 2025, with total assets of $420.68 million and total liabilities of $175.34 million. The company’s leverage ratio remains a point of focus, with total liabilities exceeding equity. Nevertheless, the share repurchase program is expected to provide a boost to shareholder value by reducing the number of outstanding shares and potentially increasing earnings per share over time.
The announcement comes amid a broader trend of companies leveraging buybacks to return capital to shareholders and stabilize stock volatility. Amplitude’s management emphasized that the program is consistent with its commitment to delivering long-term value and aligning with investors' interests. The company also highlighted its recent product innovations, including the launch of AI-driven analytics tools and the acquisition of InfiniGrow, which are expected to drive future growth and efficiency.
Looking ahead, Amplitude has provided financial guidance for 2026, projecting revenue between $91.7 million and $93.7 million for the first quarter and $390.0 million to $398.0 million for the full year. The company expects non-GAAP net income per share to range between $0.08 and $0.13 for the year. These projections reflect a cautious but optimistic outlook, with management acknowledging the challenges posed by macroeconomic conditions and competitive pressures in the SaaS market.
The share repurchase program is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Amplitude’s position in the analytics sector. The company’s recent expansion into enterprise markets and its focus on AI-driven solutions have contributed to a growing customer base, with 698 customers generating $100,000 or more in ARR as of December 31, 2025. As Amplitude continues to scale its operations and refine its product offerings, the buyback program is expected to play a key role in supporting its financial objectives and investor confidence.
