Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City Faces Growing Pressure to Combat Urban Flooding

HCMC faces mounting pressure to combat urban flooding as heavy rainfall causes widespread inundation. The city aims to complete 9 major projects and resolve 3 of the 50 most severely flooded areas by 2026. Recent heavy rainfall has caused flooding on 33 streets and in two areas, with the worst-hit being the An Phu housing development and a nearby tunnel. The city's drainage system is under strain, with 159 identified flooding hotspots, prompting calls for further investment in flood prevention and drainage infrastructure.
