Rail Vikas Nigam gets INR1.61B contract
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a state-owned infrastructure company under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a significant railway infrastructure contract valued at INR1.64 billion. The project, awarded by East Coast Railway, involves the development of additional rail lines and key bridge infrastructure along the Bhadrak–Vizianagaram corridor in Odisha. Specifically, the work includes the construction of third and fourth rail lines between the Nergundi–Barang and Khurda Road–Vizianagaram sections, along with the development of critical bridges to enhance regional connectivity and operational efficiency.
This contract is expected to contribute to RVNL’s ongoing efforts to expand its railway infrastructure portfolio. The company has previously secured contracts from NMDC Ltd and West Central Railway, including a ₹758.07 crore project for railway infrastructure development and a ₹244.32 crore electric traction project. These developments underscore RVNL’s active role in India’s railway modernization and capacity expansion initiatives.
The project is anticipated to be executed over a multi-year period and will involve comprehensive engineering, construction, and project management services. RVNL has emphasized that the contracts are awarded in the normal course of business and do not involve related-party transactions.
