Paramount Pictures is seeking a $1.88 billion bond from a US federal court to compensate for potential financial losses if the Warner Bros.WBD-- Discovery merger continues to be delayed due to ongoing lawsuits. The company claims it has met all conditions to complete the deal and received approval from regulatory bodies in 69 jurisdictions. The merger, valued at $110 billion, is facing opposition from a coalition of 12 state attorneys general and the Writers Guild of America, who argue it will reduce competition in the entertainment industry. Paramount argues that the lawsuits, led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, are the last obstacles to completing the deal.
