US to Impose Fixed Stay Limits for International Students from September 15

International students in the US will face new rules from September 15, 2026, with a fixed admission period based on the program length on their Form I-20, not exceeding four years. Students who need additional time must apply for an extension or leave the US and seek a new period of admission upon return. The post-study departure period is reduced to 30 days from 60 days.
