Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin has reportedly requested a trade, and his request remains unchanged as training camp approaches. Nikishin, 24, finished his first full NHL season with 33 points in 81 games and added one assist in 17 playoff games during Carolina's Stanley Cup run. His name has been linked to possible trade discussions, and he was offered to the Winnipeg Jets for Connor Hellebuyck in June. Nikishin was selected 69th overall by Carolina in the 2020 NHL Draft and spent several seasons in the KHL before joining the Hurricanes.
