Zcash Fixes Critical Vulnerability in Sprout Shielded Pool, Affecting Over 25,000 ZEC

Zcash has patched a critical bug affecting its deprecated Sprout shielded pool, which could have allowed bad actors to drain funds. The vulnerability was present from July 2020 until the release of v6.12.0, but no exploitation was detected and all user funds are safe. The Zcash Open Development Team clarified that the network's "turnstile" mechanism would have prevented broader supply inflation.
