XRP News Today: XRP HODLers Surge 12.8% in June, Signaling Potential Breakout
XRP, the cryptocurrency associated with RippleXRP--, is showing signs of a potential breakout, according to recent on-chain metrics. The data indicates that investors are increasingly choosing to hold their XRPXRPI-- rather than sell, which is a positive indicator of growing confidence in the asset.
One of the key metrics highlighting this trend is the surge in the share of addresses holding XRP for 6 to 12 months, which jumped from 6.3% to 19.1% in June. This 12.8% increase suggests that mid-term investors are displaying strong conviction and are willing to hold through market volatility. Similarly, the 3 to 6-month holders are also showing a HODLing trend, which further stabilizes XRP’s price structure and reflects optimism for a price rebound.
Another encouraging sign is the steady rise in Mean Coin Age (MCA), which measures how long tokens remain untouched. The upward trend in MCA indicates reduced selling pressure and greater investor patience, suggesting that long-term holders are either staying put or increasing their positions. This stability could provide the foundation needed for XRP to gear up for a potential breakout in the coming weeks.
Technically, XRP is hovering just below the critical $2.23 resistance level. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has flipped bullish, with a positive crossover forming over the past few sessions. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is around the neutral 50 mark, leaving room for upward movement. However, the relatively muted trading volumes suggest a lack of strong conviction from bulls at this stage.
For XRP to break out decisively, a surge in buying interest and volume is necessary. The technical setup looks promising, but without increased volume, the rally risks stalling just shy of a major breakout. If accumulation continues at the current pace, July could mark a pivotal moment in XRP’s trajectory, potentially leading to a retest of the long-standing $2.23 resistance.
