XRP News Today: Ripple SWIFT XRP Agreement Claim Resurfaces on X
A recent post on X has reignited discussions about a controversial claim that Ripple and SWIFT have an agreement involving the use of XRP for cross-border payments. The post revisits an earlier incident where a similar claim was published and then promptly deleted, causing confusion within the crypto community.
The user behind the latest post asserted, “People seem to have forgotten very quickly that the agreement between Ripple and SWIFT to use XRP for cross-border payments was announced early.” This remark has brought renewed attention to the validity of the claim and the events surrounding the original post.
The pseudonymous X user believes that the post was not a mistake but an indication that significant developments are underway, known to major players in the industry.
Community reactions on X varied, with some users providing context and clarification. One user, Blackhawk, mentioned that Watcher.Guru, the account that originally posted the claim, had stated it was hacked and took down the post immediately. This incident involved Watcher.Guru’s account, which previously published similar claims but later retracted them, citing a security breach.
Another user, Jordan Lucilus, directly challenged the original claim, stating, “No it hasn’t…no agreement has been publicly announced. SWIFT is currently exploring various blockchains. Don’t count your chickens!” This comment aligns with the official status of developments, which suggest that SWIFT is still in the process of testing and evaluating multiple blockchain technologies rather than finalizing any specific partnerships.
The Watcher.Guru incident traces back to March 20th, when their X account published a claim suggesting an agreement between Ripple and SWIFT. However, this post was quickly deleted, and Watcher.Guru issued an official statement explaining the situation. According to a report, Watcher.Guru clarified that their account had been hacked, and the post was made by an unauthorized user. Despite their swift response, the post had already gained significant visibility before it was removed, creating confusion within the crypto community.
As of now, there remains no public or official confirmation of an agreement between Ripple and SWIFT regarding the use of XRP for cross-border payments. While SWIFT has been engaged in trials and research related to blockchain technology and digital assets, including collaborations with various blockchain firms, no formal partnership with Ripple specifically involving XRP has been announced.
