Ripple has acquired Palisade, a digital asset wallet and custody firm, to bolster its institutional custody and payments infrastructure, marking another significant step in its expansion strategy. The acquisition integrates Palisade's wallet-as-a-service technology into Ripple Custody and Ripple Payments, enabling clients to manage real-time settlements, high-frequency treasury operations, and multi-chain transactions across networks like XRP Ledger, EthereumETH--, and SolanaSOL--. Palisade's platform leverages multi-party computation (MPC), zero-trust architecture, and rapid wallet provisioning, addressing institutional demand for secure, scalable solutions.

The move aligns with Ripple's broader efforts to bridge traditional finance and decentralized markets. Over the past year, the company has acquired prime brokerage firm Hidden Road ($1.25 billion), treasury software provider GTreasury ($1 billion), and stablecoin payments platform Rail ($200 million), rebranding Hidden Road as Ripple Prime to offer U.S. institutional clients over-the-counter (OTC) trading services. These acquisitions, combined with Palisade's technology, position Ripple to serve fintechs, corporates, and crypto-native firms with end-to-end custody, compliance, and payment solutions.

Ripple President Monica Long emphasized that secure custody is foundational to blockchain adoption, stating, according to a Cointelegraph report, "Corporates are poised to drive the next massive wave of crypto adoption. Just as major banks have shifted from observation to active participation in crypto, corporates now require trusted partners with out-of-the-box capabilities." Institutions such as DBS, Societe Generale–FORGE, BBVA, and Absa Bank already utilize Ripple Custody, which now supports DeFi connectivity and subscription payment models.

The acquisition follows Ripple's recent SEC settlement, which has allowed the firm to focus on product innovation and regulatory compliance. With over 75 global licenses and partnerships with compliance firms like Chainalysis, Ripple aims to streamline crypto integration for enterprises. Palisade's team, experienced in institutional-grade custody, will maintain operational continuity while scaling services under Ripple's framework, Coindesk reports.

Analysts note that Ripple's expanded offerings could accelerate institutional adoption as digital asset holdings surpass $2 trillion, according to Yahoo Finance. By integrating Palisade's multi-chain support and MPC security, Ripple addresses challenges like regulatory compliance and operational efficiency, critical for enterprises navigating evolving frameworks such as the EU's MiCA and U.S. SEC regulations, as highlighted in another Yahoo report. The company's RLUSD stablecoin, now valued at over $1 billion, further underscores its role in institutional settlements.
