XRP price speculation has intensified as the likelihood of approval for spot XRPXRPI-- exchange-traded funds (ETFs) climbed to 87% on Polymarket as of late September 2025. The rise in approval odds has sparked renewed interest among investors and analysts, who are closely monitoring key deadlines set by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Grayscale XRP ETF, for example, is expected to receive a decision on October 18, while the Canary ETF faces a deadline on October 24. These dates mark a critical phase for the asset, with many expecting a coordinated approval similar to that seen with BitcoinBTC-- and EthereumETH-- ETFs earlier in the year.

The potential approval of XRP ETFs is seen as a major catalyst for price appreciation, particularly given the robust demand for XRP-related financial instruments. The CME Group’s XRP futures contract, for instance, has already attracted over $1 billion in open interest since its launch, making it the fastest contract to reach that milestone. Additionally, existing XRP ETFs from providers like Teucrium and ProShares have accumulated millions in assets, reinforcing the potential for further inflows. The broader market for crypto ETFs has also been strong, with spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs receiving over $54 billion and $13 billion in inflows, respectively, since their launch.

Technical analysis of XRP’s price movements suggests further upward momentum is possible in the coming weeks. The token recently rebounded from a low of $2.6958 to $2.82, and analysts have identified a bull flag pattern on the daily chart. A breakout above the $3 level is seen as a critical development that could propel the price toward $5, a 77% increase from its current level. Key resistance levels include the 50-day simple moving average at $3.08 and the multi-year high of $3.66 reached in July. On the downside, the 100-day and 200-day moving averages at $2.68 and $2.48, respectively, are considered key support zones.

The regulatory environment has also shifted in favor of XRP, with Ripple’s legal victory in 2024 confirming the token’s status as a digital commodity rather than a security. This classification is widely viewed as a major factor in improving the prospects for ETF approval. The SEC has previously postponed decisions on XRP ETFs multiple times, suggesting a pattern of delay before final rulings. Analysts like Nate Geraci, president of the ETF Store, believe the odds are now “closer to 100%” for approval, while others, including James Seyffart of Bloomberg, estimate an 87–95% chance of approval by year-end.

Market participants are also weighing in on the potential impact of XRP ETFs on institutional investment flows. Steven McClurg of Canary Capital has predicted up to $5 billion in inflows within the first month of an approved ETF, while JPMorganJPM-- analysts anticipate as much as $8 billion in the first year. These projections highlight the growing confidence in XRP as a viable alternative asset within institutional portfolios. The recent filing by Amplify for the XRP Monthly Option Income ETF has further signaled interest in creating products that combine crypto exposure with income generation through covered call strategies.

Despite the optimism, some analysts remain cautious. AdrianoFeria.eth, a crypto analyst on X, warned that XRP ETFs could mark the “beginning of the end” for the token if institutional interest fails to materialize. Critics argue that XRP lacks the narrative strength of Bitcoin or Ethereum, which could limit its appeal to large-scale investors. However, proponents counter that XRP’s utility in cross-border transactions and financial services could differentiate it in the market.

With the SEC’s decision deadlines fast approaching, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining the next phase of XRP’s price trajectory and broader market adoption.
