Wind energy generated 39% of Ireland's electricity in December, making it the second-best December on record for renewable power. However, 13% of this electricity was not delivered to consumers due to problems with the national grid. Wind Energy Ireland's CEO argues that the grid needs to be strengthened to accommodate increasing volumes of affordable energy and warns that failing to do so will increase reliance on more expensive fossil fuels.
