Warner Bros. Discovery achieved a significant milestone with the streaming and TV audiences for the 2024 Olympics, reflecting both the strength of its platforms and the growing popularity of sports content in the streaming era.

The company reported a cumulative reach of over 215 million viewers across Europe, a 23% increase from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

This surge in viewership is largely attributed to the integration of the Max and discovery+ platforms, alongside traditional Eurosport TV channels and free-to-air networks in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

One of the standout achievements was in streaming viewership, where more than 7 billion minutes of Olympics content were streamed during the Games.

This figure is six times higher than what was recorded for Tokyo 2020, underscoring the shift in consumer behavior toward streaming services for live sports events. A record-breaking day was observed on August 4th, when Warner Bros. Discovery set a new benchmark with 600 million minutes streamed in a single day across Europe.

This spike in viewership coincided with major events, including the Men's 100m final, the Djokovic vs. Alcaraz Men's Tennis gold medal match, the final day of swimming events, and the women's road race in cycling.

These impressive numbers highlight the success of Warner Bros. Discovery's strategy to leverage its broad portfolio of media assets to enhance viewer engagement.

By offering a diverse range of content across both traditional and digital platforms, the company is well-positioned to capture and retain a global audience in an increasingly competitive media landscape.

The boost in viewership not only enhances Warner Bros. Discovery's value proposition but also solidifies its position as a key player in the sports broadcasting industry, particularly in Europe. This success will likely bolster the company's efforts to expand its digital footprint and continue innovating in content delivery for major sporting events.
