Charles W. Wetherell, director of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.BRK.A--, recently sold 2 shares of Class A stock for about $1.55 million, according to a regulatory filing. The sale, which took place near the stock's recent high, was the first by the Wetherell family since they bought Berkshire stock in May 2020.

The shares were sold from Charles's individual retirement account at a price near $776,000 per share. In May 2020, during the pandemic bear market low, Merill Wetherell bought 8 Class A shares and 1,000 Class B shares, while Charles bought 2 Class A shares at a price near $261,000 per share. The 2 Class A shares sold were the shares Charles bought at that time.

The Class A stock now trades near $747,600, with a price-to-book ratio near 1.7 times, near the highest level in the past decade. Merill currently owns 11 Class A shares (including shares held in trust for family members) and 2,000 Class B shares, while Charles still owns 2 Class A shares (in his individual retirement account) after the sale.
