VALE--

A flood in Vale's mining area in Brazil damaged the local Maranhao River, according to the Minas Gerais state government. The overflow was caused by heavy rain and also affected a site owned by steelmaker CSN. Vale must implement emergency measures to clean the affected area and submit an environmental recovery plan, as the flooding occurred on the anniversary of Vale's Brumadinho dam burst in 2019.
