VALE--

Vale and Glencore are evaluating a potential $2-billion copper joint venture in Sudbury, Ontario. The project, which could extract copper over 21 years, would be a key supplier of the critical mineral used in electric vehicles and infrastructure. The companies will conduct engineering and consultation work next year and expect to make a final investment decision in 2027. The venture would add to Canada's planned copper projects, which are expected to meet growing demand for the metal.
