On April 3, 2025, UnitedHealth's trading volume reached $34.89 billion, marking an 180.81% increase from the previous day, placing it 20th in the day's stock market rankings. UnitedHealthUNH-- (UNH) rose by 3.30%, marking two consecutive days of gains, with a total increase of 3.31% over the past two days.

The U.S. Department of Justice has urged a federal judge to proceed with a long-running fraud lawsuit alleging that UnitedHealth overbilled the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services by at least $2.1 billion. The DOJ's proposal came after a special master assigned to the case argued in March that the agency lacked evidence to back up its fraud allegations. UnitedHealth is expected to respond to the DOJ by May 2, as the case, initially filed by whistleblower Benjamin Poehling, a former UNHUNH-- staffer, continues. In 2017, the DoJ took over the case, which alleges that UnitedHealth, the leading player in the market for government-backed Medicare Advantage plans, failed to delete unsupported diagnosis codes from patient records, leading to as much as $2.1 billion in overpayments for its MA plans.
