UNFI Appoints David Best as President and CEO of Retail Division

United Natural Foods has appointed David Best as President and CEO of Retail, effective August 17. Best will lead the company's retail banners, Cub Foods and Shoppers Food Warehouse, and accelerate UNFI's retail business growth strategy. Best has a track record of driving retail innovation and has held leadership roles at General Mills and Target. He will report to CEO Sandy Douglas and serve on UNFI's senior leadership team.

United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) has appointed David Best as President and Chief Executive Officer of its Retail division, effective August 17. Best will oversee the company's retail business strategy and lead its Cub Foods and Shoppers Food Warehouse banners [1].

Prior to joining UNFI, Best served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Coborn’s Inc. for two years, where he implemented growth strategies and expanded into new product categories. He also has extensive experience as Senior Vice President of Omnichannel and Strategic Capabilities at General Mills and spent 19 years at Target in various leadership roles across merchandising, supply chain, and business development [2].

UNFI's CEO, Sandy Douglas, praised Best's track record of driving retail innovation and his shopper-centric approach, stating that he is an ideal leader to help UNFI write the next chapter of success for its retail business. Best will report directly to Douglas and join UNFI's senior leadership team.

The appointment comes as UNFI focuses on expanding its retail operations alongside its wholesale distribution business. UNFI's retail division includes the Cub Foods chain, which operates primarily in Minnesota, and Shoppers Food Warehouse locations.
