UNESCO has removed three African heritage sites - Rainforests of the Atsinanana in Madagascar, Abu Mena in Egypt, and Old Town of Ghadams in Libya - from its "in danger" list, acknowledging successful efforts to mitigate threats and restore their cultural and ecological integrity. This follows UNESCO's efforts to support African Member States, with three sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Senegal also removed from the list since 2021.
