Turkcell and Huawei Achieve 50 Gbps Speed in 5G Wireless Trials

Turkcell and Huawei have achieved a world-first 50 Gbps data transfer rate in a field test in Istanbul. Turkcell, in collaboration with Huawei, has achieved a significant milestone in wireless communication technology by successfully conducting a field test in Istanbul, Turkey. The test, conducted on June 1, 2025, achieved a data transfer rate of 50 Gbps, marking the world's first full duplex radio link field test [1].

The test was conducted using the E-band (80 GHz) spectrum and demonstrated the ability to transmit and receive data simultaneously on the same frequency. This breakthrough technology, known as Full Duplex Radio Link, significantly enhances data efficiency and network performance [1].

Prof. Dr. Vehbi Çağrı Güngör, Turkcell's Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating that it reflects the company's commitment to preparing Turkey's digital infrastructure for the future.
