TSMC released its January 2025 revenue report and detailed the impact of the earthquake in Taiwan in January. The company's revenue in January was approximately TWD293.288 billion, up 5.4% from the previous month and 35.9% year-on-year. The 6.4 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks in Taiwan on January 21st caused some disruptions to TSMC's wafer production, but the plants were not structurally damaged, and water, electricity, safety systems, and operations were unaffected. Some wafers were damaged during production due to the earthquake, leading to a downward revision of the first quarter revenue expectation, close to the low end of the previous estimated range (US$25-25.8bn). The first quarter gross margin is expected to remain between 57% and 59%, and the operating margin is expected to remain between 46.5% and 48.5%. Despite the earthquake impact, TSMC maintains its full-year financial outlook unchanged.
