Trump Claimed Zuckerberg Vowed To Vote For Him After His July Rally
In this year's U.S. election, Silicon Valley, which has always leaned "liberal", has seen the emergence of quite a few Trump supporters. The most representative figure is undoubtedly Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is almost ready to start work in Trump's cabinet. In an interview published this week, Trump dropped a bombshell: Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, who has always had a rocky relationship with both Musk and Trump himself, had also surrendered to him...
According to Trump, after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in July, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg called him to say that he would not vote for a Democrat in the 2024 election.
Trump claimed that Zuckerberg praised him during that call. Zuckerberg reportedly said: There's no way I can vote for a Democrat in this election. I will never vote for the people running against you after watching what you did.
Trump was referring to the moment when he was escorted off the stage by the Secret Service after being shot, with blood in his ear but still punching the air.
However, Meta has firmly denied Trump's latest claims.
A Meta spokesperson denied that Zuckerberg had revealed any information about how he would vote. He said, As Mark has publicly stated, he will not support anyone in this campaign, nor has he disclosed to anyone how he plans to vote.
As for who between Trump and Meta is lying, outsiders, of course, do not know for now. However, judging from some of Zuckerberg's public comments after Trump's attack in July, he did indeed praise Trump at the time.
In a July interview, Zuckerberg called Trump's response to the attack one of the badass things he had ever seen in his life. On a personal note, seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I've ever seen in my life, Zuckerberg said at the time, and I think, look: On some level as an American, it's, like, hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that's why a lot of people like the guy Zuckerberg said at the time.
However, despite this brief interlude of eased relations during a special period, Trump still seems to view Zuckerberg as a nemesis to this day.
Zuckerberg's relationship with Trump and his allies has long been strained, mainly over Facebook's content moderation policies, which Republicans have repeatedly accused of favoring Democrats. After the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, Facebook and Instagram banned Trump, leading to Trump suing Meta. Although the restrictions were lifted in July this year, the lawsuit is still pending.
In his new book released earlier this month, Trump also claimed that Zuckerberg had conspired against him in the 2020 election. Trump warned that if Zuckerberg did it again, he would spend the rest of his life in prison.
