Tesla's Shanghai energy storage super factory officially begins production.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory officially went into production in the morning of November 11 in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone Lingang New Area. The commercial energy storage batteries produced by the factory will be shipped to the global market to help the "green future" in the world. It is reported that the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory officially started construction in May 2024 and passed the completion acceptance and started trial production at the end of the year, with a total construction period of only 7 months. After the production of the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory, it is planned to produce 10,000 commercial energy storage batteries per year in the initial stage, with a storage capacity of nearly 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh), which will start the production ramp-up in the first quarter and open up more markets worldwide. Wuxinbo, director of the Institute of International Studies of Fudan University, said that the formal production of the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory is not only due to China's infrastructure construction speed leading the world, but also a manifestation of the advantages of the high-quality business environment in China and Shanghai. This project will serve as a demonstration and leading role for other investors.
