Tesla has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated Robotaxi, set for October 10th in California, according to a statement released on September 26th. CEO Elon Musk shared the announcement on social media, promising that this event would be "historic."

The Robotaxi was initially scheduled for an August release, but Musk cited the need for additional time to refine the vehicle prototype. The unveiling will take place at Warner Bros. Studios in the Los Angeles area. Observers have noted a uniquely camouflaged vehicle spotted on-site, believed to be the Robotaxi.

As the electric vehicle market encounters slowed sales growth and intensifying competition, Tesla's traditional car business struggles with profitability. With the decline in auto margins, autonomous driving emerges as a key growth avenue for Tesla's valuation.

Musk has emphasized the importance of this launch, comparing it to the debut of the Model 3. He further speculated that once fully autonomous vehicles are operational, public transportation might become obsolete due to the comparable costs of using Robotaxis.

The actual commercial launch date for Robotaxi remains uncertain, contingent upon resolving technical issues and securing regulatory approvals. Tesla executives noted that deployment depends on FSD (Full Self-Driving) being safely operable without supervision and receiving regulatory consent.

Tesla is actively pursuing regulatory clearance for FSD globally, aiming for potential approvals in China and Europe by year-end. As the company advances its autonomous driving capabilities, it seeks to solidify its position in the evolving landscape of mobility solutions.
