Tesla's European Regulator Cracks Down on Door Safety

Tesla's European regulator, RDW, says door safety is a "key priority" after a Bloomberg investigation found Tesla's door handles could trap drivers and passengers in the event of a battery power outage or fire. RDW will strengthen rules to ensure doors can be safely exited and rescued by first responders, and the UN Economic Commission for Europe also prioritizes this issue. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a defect investigation into Tesla's door handles on certain Model Y vehicles.
