Telecom Argentina's 5G Expansion Soars with 36.4% More Sites by Year-End

Telecom Argentina is intensifying its 5G rollout efforts, aiming to conclude the year with 750 active 5G sites across the country, up from its current 550. As part of its strategy, the company is introducing private 5G solutions via network slicing on its recently deployed core infrastructure in Buenos Aires. In addition, Telecom is enhancing its data center capabilities to support increased demand from artificial intelligence and corporate clients, planning upgrades for all 16 facilities to a 10MW capacity.

The expansion includes a focus on their flagship data center in Pacheco, near Buenos Aires, which boasts hyperscale infrastructure and high occupancy levels. The company's business plan includes potential further expansion, contingent on demand and contract signings. As of mid-2025, Telecom has reported a 53.7% increase in capital expenditure year-on-year, reaching ARS 481.2 billion (approximately $355 million), with these investments partially driven by the acquisition of Telefónica’s local operations pending regulatory approval.

Telecom has already established around 25 private networks for sectors such as mining, oil, ports, and agriculture, employing network slicing technology to efficiently utilize its 5G core network. This move aligns with Enacom's decision to open spectrum for private network deployments, providing companies another option if existing market offerings do not meet their needs.

As it seeks to cement its position in the competitive telecom market, Telecom Argentina's investments in 5G and data infrastructure reflect the company's commitment to growing its enterprise solutions despite prevailing economic challenges. By year-end, the carrier plans a significant boost in 5G infrastructure, set to not only enhance coverage but also reinforce its market presence.
