The IT union NITES has criticized Tata Consultancy Services' (TCS) new 35-day bench policy, calling it exploitative and distressing. NITES claims that the policy pressures employees and promotes a culture of fear, and has called on the labor ministry to investigate TCS' treatment of staff. TCS expects employees to be in projects for at least 225 days a year, failing which management action will be taken. The union argues that the policy places the burden on employees for internal inefficiencies and treats them as liabilities.
