RUN--

Sunrun Inc. (NASDAQ:RUN) has seen its stock price target cut by Barclays to $14 from $23, maintaining an Equal Weight rating, as the firm anticipates softer first-quarter results due to affiliate reductions and seasonal volume declines. The firm also noted that the company may increasingly rely on asset sales in 2026 to offset weaker tax equity markets and expects shareholder returns to become more feasible in the second half of 2026 or 2027 once leverage and covenant thresholds are met.

Citi also revised its price target for Sunrun to $20 from $26, reiterating a Buy rating, as part of broader sector adjustments to the alternative energy equipment and services sector ahead of a challenging earnings season. Meanwhile, Barclays highlighted Sunrun’s expanded artificial intelligence strategy, including a partnership with Tesla and Renew Home to address AI power bottlenecks through a virtual power plant initiative. This effort aggregates residential batteries and other assets to provide dispatchable capacity to utilities and hyperscalers.

Despite these strategic moves, Sunrun faces financial challenges, including a significant debt burden and high cash burn, according to InvestingPro Tips. The company, however, remains profitable with a 52% year-over-year revenue increase and a low P/E ratio of 6.02.
