Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market by acquiring over 20,000 Bitcoin (BTC), bringing it closer to the 500,000 BTC milestone. The company, led by CEO Michael Saylor, has been actively accumulating BTC since 2020 and has now amassed a substantial portfolio.

The latest acquisition, revealed in a Feb. 24 SEC filing, saw Strategy purchase 20,356 BTC for $1.99 billion, at an average price of $97,514 per BTC. This transaction brings the firm's total Bitcoin holdings to 499,096 BTC, currently valued at over $47 billion. Since the company began its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, it has spent a total of $33.1 billion, including fees, with an average purchase price of $66,357 per BTC.

The latest buy contributes to a strong start in 2025 for Strategy. From Jan. 1 to Feb. 23, the company reported a 6.9% BTC yield, a BTC gain of 30,702, and a total valuation increase of $2.941 billion. The purchase was funded by Strategy's recently finalized $2 billion zero-coupon convertible note offering, with investors also given an option to acquire an additional $300 million in notes.
