Standard Chartered's Zodia Adds Institutional Support for TON with Jettons

Standard Chartered's digital asset platform, Zodia, has announced its support for the TON (Telegram Open Network) blockchain and its native cryptocurrency, TONcoin. This move is part of Zodia's ongoing efforts to provide institutional investors with access to a broader range of digital assets.

Zodia, a joint venture between Standard Chartered and the venture capital firm Mullen Capital, has integrated Jettons, a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator, to facilitate institutional trading of TONcoin. This integration will enable Zodia's clients to trade TONcoin directly from their wallets, streamlining the process and reducing counterparty risk.

The addition of TON support comes as TONcoin has experienced significant price volatility in recent weeks. After reaching highs of $7.20 on Dec. 4, TONcoin has since declined to lows of $4.67. Despite the recent dip, TONcoin has seen a 357% increase in exchange netflows, indicating increased retail activity.

IntoTheBlock, a crypto analytics platform, reports that the large holders' netflow to exchange netflow ratio for TONcoin has surged 393% in the last seven days. This metric suggests that retail traders have been more active than large holders, potentially indicating a trend toward accumulation.

Standard Chartered's Zodia has been expanding its digital asset offerings to cater to the growing demand from institutional investors. By integrating Jettons and supporting TON, Zodia aims to provide its clients with access to a diverse range of digital assets and trading opportunities.

As the crypto market awaits the Federal Reserve's first interest rate decision of 2025, investors are closely monitoring the price movements of digital assets like TONcoin. Despite the recent declines, TONcoin's strong netflows and increased retail activity suggest a potential rebound in the near future.
