SMX and A*STAR to Develop Nationwide Plastic Circularity Platform in Singapore

SMX and A*STAR have partnered to develop a national plastic circularity platform in Singapore. The platform aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in recycling by enabling every plastic item to carry a secure digital record of its origin, composition, and reuse cycles. The collaboration will integrate SMX's molecular markers, readers, and blockchain ledger with A*STAR's digital, advanced chemical spectroscopic detection, and material profiling research capabilities. The initiative supports Singapore's vision of a sustainable circular economy and could avoid S$100 million in annual incineration fees and create S$75 million in saleable recycled resin.
