SL Green Appoints Harrison Sitomer as Chief Investment Officer
Harrison Sitomer has been named Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of SL Green Realty Corp., a leading New York City-based real estate investment trust focused on Manhattan commercial properties. In this role, Sitomer oversees SL Green's investment platform, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, and debt and preferred equity investments. He also manages the Food1st Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established by SL Green to address food insecurity in New York City while supporting the local food and beverage industry.
Sitomer joined SL Green in 2012 as an intern and has since risen through the ranks, reflecting the company's emphasis on cultivating internal talent. His career progression aligns with SL Green's strategy of maintaining deep local expertise in New York's real estate market, a factor the company attributes to its competitive advantage. Under his leadership, the investment team has executed over $10 billion in office sales since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, including high-profile acquisitions such as 450 Park Avenue and 245 Park Avenue.
A key component of Sitomer's responsibilities involves navigating challenges in the office sector, including elevated vacancy rates and shifting tenant demands. SL Green has responded by disposing of non-core assets and enhancing its portfolio's quality, resulting in market-leading leasing and operational performance. The company also remains active in adaptive reuse projects, such as the $867 million conversion of 111 Wall Street into residential units, underscoring its flexibility in a transforming market.
Beyond his professional role, Sitomer co-founded the Food1st Foundation in 2020, which has delivered over 1,000,000 meals to New Yorkers while reactivating 35+ kitchens. This initiative highlights SL Green's commitment to community engagement, a value Sitomer emphasizes as integral to the company's culture.
With tenure and continuity as cornerstones of SL Green's leadership model, Sitomer's appointment reinforces the company's long-term vision. His focus on hyperlocal expertise and strategic capital deployment positions SL Green to navigate current market dynamics while maintaining its prominence in Manhattan's real estate landscape.
