Sinopec Group, China's largest oil and petrochemical products supplier, has partnered with Clarivate to provide Web of Science and incoPat solutions. This collaboration aims to empower Sinopec Group's research and development goals, ultimately delivering impactful research and innovation. The partnership will equip Sinopec Group with enriched data, trusted insights, and expert services to improve the creation, protection, and commercialization of innovation.

Sinopec Group, China's largest oil and petrochemical products supplier, has entered into a strategic partnership with Clarivate Plc to enhance its research and development capabilities. The collaboration, announced on August 27, 2025, involves the integration of Clarivate's Web of Science platform and incoPat global patent data solutions.

The partnership aims to empower Sinopec Group's research and development goals by providing enriched data, trusted insights, and expert services. The Web of Science platform, a leading academic research tool, will streamline the discovery of content from the world's leading journals, conference papers, books, dissertations, datasets, patents, preprints, awarded grants, and policy documents. Meanwhile, incoPat, with its database of over 200 million patent records from 172 countries, regions, and organizations, will offer comprehensive patent data insights.

The collaboration is expected to improve Sinopec Group's ability to create, protect, and commercialize innovation, particularly in the areas of low-carbon energy and environment-friendly materials. Clarivate's CEO, Matti Shem Tov, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating that it will support Sinopec Group's vision to become a world-leading energy and chemical company.

This is not the first collaboration between Clarivate and Sinopec Group. The Chinese company has been utilizing Clarivate's InCites Benchmarking & Analytics, Derwent Innovation, and Darts-ip solutions for several years. The new partnership builds on this existing relationship and is expected to further bolster Sinopec Group's innovation efforts.
