Shibarium Hits One Billion Transactions in 593 Days

Shiba Inu's Layer-2 blockchain, Shibarium, has reached a significant milestone by processing over one billion transactions since its launch in August 2023. This achievement highlights the network’s growing adoption and its ability to handle large-scale transaction volumes efficiently. On March 31, 2025, Shibarium officially recorded its one-billionth transaction, marking a major milestone in its development. The network achieved this feat in just 593 days, or approximately one year and seven months, making it one of the fastest blockchains to reach this benchmark. In comparison, Bitcoin, the world’s first and most established blockchain, took 15 years to surpass one billion transactions. This demonstrates Shibarium’s rapid adoption and the active participation of its user base. Despite experiencing technical setbacks in its early days, such as a temporary outage shortly after launch, the network has remained operational and continued to grow steadily.

Shibarium has maintained a high transaction volume, recently processing approximately 4 million transactions in a single day. As of now, the total number of transactions on the network stands at 1,001,311,027 (1.001 billion). In addition to transaction volume, other key metrics further illustrate Shibarium’s progress. The network has generated a total of 10,233,246 blocks, with an average block time of 5.0 seconds, ensuring fast and efficient processing. Furthermore, 193,929,845 blockchain addresses have interacted with the network, showcasing its widespread usage. While the total number of registered accounts on Shibarium has reached 248,608, the number of actively engaged accounts has fluctuated. At present, only 917 accounts are active, representing a significant decline of 89.01% from the previous day’s total of 8,346 active users. Despite this drop in active users, the overall transaction count and block production indicate that the network remains highly functional. The fluctuations in daily user activity may be influenced by various factors, including market conditions and evolving user behavior within the ecosystem.

He cited the fact that the coin had flipped the two biggest cryptocurrencies in a closely watched metric. In an X post, he said that SHIB had passed Bitcoin and Ethereum in the long-term holder ratio. Its ratio, which measures the duration in which holders have held the coin, jumped to 76%, higher than BTC’s and ETH’s 74%. He said: “This isn’t just a stat—it’s a signal. A massive shift in perception. What started as a meme has evolved into a movement backed by one of the strongest, most loyal communities in crypto.” Shiba Inu has been working to ensure that it is the best crypto in its category. Unlike other meme coins, it is highly deflationary because of its daily token burns. Data shows that the daily SHIB burn rate soared by 12,000% on Wednesday as the network incinerated ver 115 million tokens. Further, Shiba Inu launched Shibarium, a layer-2 network.
