Shake Shack (SHAK.US) shares surged on Thursday, up over 8.6% to $120.86 at the time of writing, after the company reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings. Shake Shack's adjusted EPS for the quarter was US$0.26, topping the market's expectation of US$0.16. Revenue grew 14.8% year-on-year to US$328.7 million, topping analysts' expectations of US$325.3 million. As an important indicator of the operation of restaurant chain brands, same-store sales grew 4.3% year-on-year. In addition, the company opened 19 company-owned and 9 licensed stores in the quarter.
