Senior Living Conclave 2025: Demand for Elder-Friendly Communities on the Rise

The Senior Living Conclave 2025 in Chennai focused on the growing demand for senior living communities in Tamil Nadu. The event brought together 350 participants, including seniors, caregivers, and industry experts, to discuss retirement living, wellness, assisted care, and home-based elder support. The conclave featured sessions on continuing care retirement communities, fall management systems, emergency care services, and the shift toward ageing with autonomy and dignity.

The Senior Living Conclave 2025, held in Chennai on Sunday, emphasized the growing demand for structured senior living communities in Tamil Nadu. The event, organized by The Hindu Group in collaboration with Ashiana Vatsalya, brought together over 350 participants, including senior citizens, caregivers, and industry experts, to discuss retirement living, wellness, assisted care, and home-based elder support.

The conclave featured sessions on continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), fall management systems, emergency care services, and the shift toward ageing with autonomy and dignity. Ankur Gupta, Joint Managing Director of Ashiana Housing Ltd., highlighted Tamil Nadu's growing share of senior living projects, particularly in Coimbatore, Chennai, and Kancheepuram. He underscored the importance of design and healthcare features such as anti-skid flooring, emergency response systems, and access to on-call doctors in making homes safer for seniors.

The event also included panel discussions with residents of Ashiana Shubham, who shared their experiences of adjusting to senior living communities. They highlighted the comfort, care, and community aspects of their new environments. Tamil Nadu currently has an estimated 18 to 25 senior living projects, with common features including anti-skid flooring, grab bars, emergency call systems, and in-house healthcare support.

A site visit to Ashiana Vatsalya was arranged after the conclave for interested participants, offering them a firsthand look at the facilities and amenities available. The event underscored the importance of inclusive, elder-friendly communities and the need for innovative solutions to support the growing elderly population in Tamil Nadu.
