SEC Cryptocurrency Roundtable Draws Industry Giants as Bitcoin Stocks Surge
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the list of participants for its first industry roundtable meeting, themed "How We Got Here, and How We Can Get Out — Defining the Securities Characteristics." The meeting, scheduled for Friday, March 21st, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C., will be moderated by Troy Parades, founder of Paredes Strategies LLC. The discussion will be open to the public and live-streamed on the SEC.gov website for later viewing.
The roundtable is part of a series of events called "Spring Forward: Moving Toward Clarity in Cryptocurrency Regulation," aimed at discussing key areas of cryptocurrency regulation. The team consists of twelve lawyers and scholars who will engage with the task force to develop a workable regulatory framework for cryptocurrency. SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, responsible for the special working group, emphasized the importance of public engagement in this process.
The upcoming SEC Cryptocurrency Roundtable Meeting has attracted significant attention, with a list of participants that includes some of the most influential figures in the cryptocurrency industry. The roundtable, scheduled from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm UTC, is expected to include more than 25 participants, including members of the Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets.
Notable attendees confirmed for the meeting include Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategyMSTR--, a major Bitcoin advocate who has been instrumental in spearheading corporate Bitcoin adoption. Other confirmed participants include Bo Hines and David Sacks, who are known for their significant contributions to the cryptocurrency space.
Additional attendees include Bitcoin Magazine CEO David, who is expected to bring valuable insights from his extensive experience in the industry. As of Wednesday morning, it was reported that 11 crypto industry executives and two White House representatives had confirmed their attendance.
The list of suggested attendees includes ARKARKW-- Invest founder Cathie Wood, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Circle co-founder Jeremy Allaire, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson. These individuals are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the cryptocurrency industry and its potential future developments.
