Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a leading global supplier of electronic components, has made a significant breakthrough in the automotive industry with the unveiling of its world's first Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) specifically designed for LiDAR applications. This innovative product, the CL05Y225KP66PN, is set to revolutionize the autonomous driving market by providing unparalleled performance and reliability.

The newly developed MLCC boasts an impressive 2.2uF (microfarads) capacity and operates at an industry-leading high voltage of 10V, with dimensions of 1005 size (1.0 mm wide and 0.5 mm long). This high voltage is approximately 60% higher than the previous standard of 6.3V, making it the world’s first qualified AEC-Q200, which is a critical reliability standard for automotive products in this specification.

With the advancement of autonomous driving features and the expansion of the electric vehicle market, the market for high-capacity and high-reliability MLCCs is expected to grow steadily. According to market research firm Mordor Intelligence, the automotive MLCC market is projected to grow significantly from 4.5 trillion KRW in 2024 to 10 trillion KRW by 2028.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expanding its lineup of automotive products with high temperature, high voltage, and high reliability based on its technological expertise in ultra-small and ultra-high-capacity MLCCs, while expanding its supply of MLCCs to global automotive Tier-1 companies and Car OEMs.
