Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, confirmed the meeting, stating, "I can confirm that such a meeting is being coordinated" [NUMBER: 1]. The meeting is expected to be held at 6 p.m. local time (10 a.m. GMT) and will be the first high-level interaction between the two countries' top diplomats since the start of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The meeting comes amidst heightened tensions between the two nations. Russia has been vocal in its criticism of the use of the term "annexation" regarding Crimea and other disputed regions, while the U.S. has been providing significant military aid to Ukraine.
