Russia's Arctic LNG 2 Faces Shipping Bottleneck Amid Ice Buildup

A Russian tanker, Buran, has abandoned its attempt to load LNG from the Arctic LNG 2 export plant in Russia's Arctic due to a buildup of ice. The vessel was sanctioned by the US last year and had circled near the Gulf of Ob before heading back to Murmansk. The shipping bottleneck will likely curb deliveries from the plant, which has exported over 1 million tons of LNG since June. Ice thickening during winter months makes travel to and from the plant more challenging.
