Roivant Sciences Ltd. (ROIV) reported first-quarter 2026 loss of $0.26 per share, compared to a loss of $0.33 per share in the same period of the prior year, according to its latest financial results. The improvement in the loss per share reflects ongoing operational adjustments and strategic shifts within the company. However, the company’s quarterly loss still fell short of analyst expectations, which had projected a loss of $0.18 per share.

The company’s loss per share for the quarter was driven by increased research and development (R&D) expenses and general administrative costs, as Roivant continues to invest in its late-stage pipeline. The GAAP earnings per share for the quarter came in at -$0.58, significantly below the consensus estimate of -$0.35. Despite the wider-than-expected loss, Roivant’s shares edged higher by 0.15% following the earnings release, suggesting that investors may have focused more on the company’s operational updates than the financial miss.

Roivant’s R&D expenses for the quarter increased to $198.9 million, up from $145.2 million in the prior year. The increase was primarily due to program-specific costs related to the anti-FcRn franchise and other key development programs. General and administrative expenses also rose to $158.3 million, compared to $147.1 million in the prior-year quarter.

Despite the loss, Roivant reported gain on litigation settlement of $770.2 million for the quarter, stemming from a global settlement with Moderna. The company also reported consolidated cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities of $4.3 billion as of March 31, 2026, providing a strong financial runway as it advances its pipeline.

Looking ahead, Roivant is expected to launch brepocitinib in dermatomyositis by the end of September 2026 and will continue to provide updates on key clinical trials, including those for non-infectious uveitis, cutaneous sarcoidosis, and other indications. Investors will be closely watching these developments, as well as the company’s ability to manage costs and advance its pipeline toward commercialization.
